At Essar Steel Algoma we have a direct interest in advancing and preserving the quality of life in the community in which we live, work and raise our families. This includes believing in opportunity and promoting the development of our youth. For this reason, we have created scholarship opportunities with preference for children of Essar Steel Algoma's past and present employees. See below for more information on each of the scholarships we offer.
SCHOLARSHIP OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM (for high school students pursuing college or university)- Program suspended until further notice
Since its launch in 2010, the Essar Steel Algoma Scholarship of Excellence Program has helped 18 local students in the pursuit of their scholarly endeavours by offsetting the tuition burden.
With due consideration, it has become necessary to suspend the Scholarship of Excellence Program for this year. However, the Company will continue to meet ongoing commitments to prior year scholars who continue to meet the bar for academic achievements. Please note our scholarships and bursaries at Algoma University, Sault College and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (shown below) remain in effect.
